History of garbage bags.

You will be surprised that garbage bags are widely used all over the world and are not new. The green plastic bags you see every day are made of polyethylene. They were made in 1950 by Harry Washrik and his partner, Larry Hansen. Both inventors are from Canada.

What happened before the garbage bag?

Before the garbage bags were distributed, many people buried the garbage in the square. Some people burn rubbish. Soon after, they realized that burning and burying were actually harmful to the environment. Garbage bags help people deal with garbage better.

Early garbage bags

Initially, garbage bags were used for commercial purposes. They were originally used at Winnipeg hospital. Hansen worked for union carbide, which bought the invention from them. The company made the first green garbage bags in the 1960s and called them household garbage bags.

The invention immediately caused a sensation and was used in several enterprises and families. In the end, it became a popular product.

Drawstring bag

In 1984, the history of garbage bags entered the market, making it easier for people to carry full bags. The original drawstring was made of high density plastic. These bags are durable and have a strong closing mechanism. But these bags are more expensive. Drawstring bags are popular at home and easy to carry, so I bought them for an extra charge.

The environmental friendliness of polyethylene garbage bags is controversial. In 1971, Dr. James Gillett designed a plastic that breaks down in the sun. Through the invention, we can use plastic bags and still stand on the side of environmental protection. Biodegradable bags are already available on the market these days and are used by many people.
