Color masterbatch (also known as color masterbatch) is an aggregate obtained by uniformly loading super-constant pigments or dyes into resins. It is composed of three components: pigments (or dyes), carriers and auxiliary agents. concentrate, so its tinting strength is higher than the pigment itself.
Masterbatch basic ingredients:
1. Toner: High-concentration pigments (or dyes) can be used to make special color masterbatches or general-purpose color masterbatches for various plastics; it is also possible to first prepare qualified colors and then mix the pigments with the color masterbatch carrier according to the formula ratio. Through the heating, plasticizing, stirring and shearing action of the granulator, the molecules of the pigment and the molecules of the carrier resin are finally fully combined to form particles similar in size to the resin particles, that is, color masterbatch.
Commonly used organic pigments are: koji red cyanine blue cyanine green lightfast red macromolecular red, macromolecular permanent yellow, permanent purple, azo red and other commonly used inorganic pigments are pot red pot yellow, titanium dioxide, carbon Iron oxide red, iron oxide yellow, etc.
2. Carrier: The special color masterbatch carrier is the basis of the color masterbatch. Generally, the same resin as the product resin is selected as the carrier, so that the compatibility of the two is the best, but the fluidity of the carrier should also be considered.
3. Auxiliaries: mainly include dispersants, coupling agents, compatibilizers, etc. to promote uniform dispersion of pigments and no longer cohesion. The melting point of the dispersant should be lower than that of the resin, and it has good compatibility with the resin and good affinity for the pigment. The most commonly used dispersants are polyethylene low molecular weight waxes and stearates.
Some additives, such as flame retardants, brighteners, antibacterial agents, antistatic agents, antioxidants, etc., can also be added to the color masterbatch. Unless the customer requests, the color masterbatch does not contain the above additives.
